In the Field, Ojai’s exciting, new life-style boutique, opened its doors in November, 2014. It is the latest venture of dynamic, husband and wife team Channon, and former Ford model, Bianca Roe.
Drawing on their rich history of travel and adventure, the artistic couple have created a magical space that combines bohemian fantasy and great taste, resulting in a remarkable shopping experience.
Channon, a veritable Renaissance man with a modern twist, actor, writer and notable designer, www.inthefieldinteriors.com, drew upon a recent road trip to the Southwest as the inspiration for In the Field’s interior design. He chose an intriguing starkness, Channon’s way of paying homage to the raw beauty of the region.
At the entrance, customers are greeted by made-to-order, mounted moose antlers, which hang above a walnut mercantile desk, built in turn of the 20th century style. On the left is the men’s section, with beautifully displayed clothes and lifestyle goods, just rugged enough to make even the most uninitiated shopper feel at ease. On the right, the women’s section boasts clothing, home wares, apothecary, and a remarkable selection of one of a kind jewelry. It includes a children’s clothing and a toy section, as well.
The gallery-like interior, with its Moroccan and Turkish rugs adorning the floor, perfectly displays a wide variety of eclectic treasures, and even boasts its own kitchen, with Moroccan tiles and a simple, concrete counter top. This serves a dual purpose; achieving the perfect showcase for In the Field’s carefully curated home wares, as well as providing a homey shopping experience. Beautifully built and curated display tables and cabinets tempt the shopper with a myriad of beautiful goods.
In the Field has clothing for the entire family, featuring such sought after labels as Isabel Marant, Ulla Johnson, Ace & Jig, Mister Freedom, Imogene + Willie, Pietsie, RTH, Stormy Monday Goods, Quoddy, Filson, Agnes Badoo, HMH, Le Botte Gardiane, Brown Sugar Beach Kids, Fella Swimwear to name but a few.
Home wares include goods by Creative Woman, Chemex, Opinel, Churchill Ceramics and Aunti Otti.
