Capri Hotel / Ojai, CA.

On our visit to Ojai, CA this fall, we had the pleasure of staying at the Capri Hotel.

Ojai is only 77 miles from Los Angeles and half and hour from Santa Barbara.
So close and yet so far from the big city life of Los Angeles.

From the outside, our first impression of The Capri was traveling back in time to a cool mid-century Palm Springs. The hotel has a very pleasant palms grove and a big grass field almost right in the middle: ideal for all kinds of events or just relaxing. Next to it there’s a great pool that includes cabanas and communal fireplace.

The lobby, the rest of the hotel and 30 rooms are tastefully decorated with a cool retro feel. We were traveling with our kids, who enjoyed the Monsters episode being featured in the lobby’s flat screen over the fireplace.

The affordable rooms also included a nice 42” flat screen TV and DVD player, and not that you will want to spend too much time in your room (You won’t being in Ojai!) but it was nice to know that in the lobby they have a nice selection of DVD movies. The rooms have Hi Speed Internet, iPod docking station/clocks, microwaves, refrigerators, organic Peruvian coffee, premium cable,
eco-conscious bathroom products from NATURA and something you don’t find in every hotel, a great host cat named “Nico”.

Some of the lower level rooms have their on patio and allow for pets. Some other rooms have Vinyl Records and players! And the Deluxe rooms have Jacuzzis.

There is also The Capri’s great location: walking distance to downtown Ojai. The views are amazing of the Topa Topa mountains. Close by there are hiking trails, parks and a bike path.

So when planning a visit to the special place that Ojai is, we recommend staying at The Capri Hotel, whether you are traveling as a couple, as a family or just with man’s best friend.
